TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Troy Police reported the arrest of a Cohoes man after a pursuit on Wednesday night. Ehab Abdalla, 21, is facing multiple charges.
On September 18 around 9:15 p.m., police in Lansingburgh stopped a man riding a bicycle near Second Avenue and 116th Street amid an investigation into suspicious activity in the area. While speaking with officers, the man, identified as Abdalla, fled the scene on his bike before eventually dismounting and running away on foot.
While fleeing, police say Abdalla was seen discarding a small bag and his outer layers of clothing in a nearby alley. Officers caught Abdalla after a brief chase and took him into custody without further incident.
During the arrest, Abdalla was allegedly found with a loaded illegal handgun. He now faces the following charges:
Criminal possession of a weapon – loaded firearm
Obstructing governmental administration
Multiple city bicycle violations
Abdalla was arraigned at the Troy City Court before being remanded to the Rensselaer County Jail.
