The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office reported the arrest of a 14-year-old for allegedly making a threat to the Fort Plain Central School District.

FORT PLAIN, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office reported the arrest of a 14-year-old for allegedly making a threat to the Fort Plain Central School District. The teen was charged with making a terroristic threat.

Deputies say a Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officer at the Fort Plain Central School District was advised of a threat made against the school and students on Monday. The sheriff’s office says it was quickly determined that there was no credible threat.

The juvenile was found and subsequently charged with a felony, according to deputies. The teen was processed at the sheriff’s office before being issued an appearance ticket and released to a family member.

“Threats of any kind are taken seriously, undoubtedly the actions of all agencies involved including staff of the Fort Plain Central School District ensured the safety of all students and faculty during the time of the incident,” says the sheriff’s office.
