ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A woman visiting Albuquerque had her motorcycle stolen on her first night in town. She came to do a charity event with a crew called the Moto Maidens.

“When I woke up this morning, my bike was gone,” says Mariah Harmony. She had just arrived into Albuquerque for her first night in the city. An Airbnb surveillance video shows one person covering their face with a bandana and another person wearing a hooded sweatshirt, as they take her bike off the driveway.

Harmony says that the bike means so much to her with years of work and precious memories on it. “I had my brother’s ashes on a bell on that bike so whoever took it has my brother’s ashes,” she says.

What they didn’t know was that Harmony came into town for a good cause with a motorcycle crew of women called The Moto Maidens. “Our whole ride over the next seven days is to raise money for the three different animal rescues in the state of New Mexico,” Harmony says.

Those animal rescues are Española Humane, Four Corners Wolf Dog Rescue, and Pitties and Kitties Rescue. “When I woke up this morning, we were really upset to see that. Not only for the charity not happening but also, that’s a really unfortunate thing for anyone,” Holly Dusthimer, president of Pitties and Kitties Rescue, says.

Dusthimer says the Moto Maidens charity is selling t-shirts to bring in money and their rid is to bring attention to the small nonprofits Despite having her most prized possession taken, Mariah Harmony still wants to support the cause. “It’s not gonna stop us um, we came here to do something and we are gonna do it,” she says.

The charity ride will start this Saturday at the Rust is Gold Coffee Shop. Then, the Moto Maidens will hit Española and Farmington for the other animal rescues there.
