HONOLULU (KHON2) — A downtown Honolulu office building has been converted into residential housing, with the newly named 1060 Bishop offering studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom units for rent.

This project marks the first office-to-residential conversion under the city’s Bill 7 affordable housing program.

Project Manager Luke Williams emphasized the goal of revitalizing downtown living.

“Our whole intent was to get people living in downtown and help revitalize the area,” he said.


University of Hawaii plans changes after Title VI investigation

The building is designated as an 80% Area Median Income (AMI) project, meaning tenants must meet specific income requirements.

The income cap is approximately $80,000 for individuals and $90,000 for couples.

Monthly rent prices are set at $1,950 for studios, just over $2,000 for one-bedrooms, and $2,500 for two-bedrooms.
