PHILMONT, N.Y. (NEWS10) — There are concerns about the water levels in the Columbia County village of Philmont’s reservoir. Water levels have hit historic lows.
The village is approving maintenance for the dam to address the problem. There is a meeting on Wednesday with village leaders, including Mayor Brian Johnson as the village is doing everything it can to rectify the situation as soon as possible.
“This situation is a result of failing Spillway conditions, lack of rain, and above-normal temperatures. The Village of Philmont is taking immediate and decisive action to safeguard the reservoir. We are collaborating closely with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and its engineers to explore the best solution to rectify the situation. Upon DEC approval, the Village will expedite projects aimed at repairing leaks,” Mayor Johnson said.
