MAURY COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Crews in Maury County spent part of their Saturday afternoon working to put out a large fire in a cornfield.

According to the Maury County Fire Department, crews were alerted about the fire along Hampshire Pike just after 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21.

Several units at the scene said that the blaze started after a combine caught fire, causing flames to erupt in a cut cornfield.

The combine fire was reportedly extinguished by a farmer. Meanwhile, an engine arrived to the field and stopped the flames just as they was getting closer to uncut corn, officials said.

No injuries were reported at the scene. Additional details were not immediately released.
