The iconic Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge celebrated 64 years of business Sunday with a free street party on lower Broadway.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The iconic Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge celebrated 64 years of business Sunday with a free street party on lower Broadway.

Originally called ‘Mom’s’, Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge was renamed after its bright purple exterior and a previous owner. The Nashville landmark has hosted top local musical talent since the 1960s.

“We all know Nashville is on fire, especially on Broadway with all the tourism and all the great people that come visit our city, but that little purple building started the whole thing,” said Jeff Eslick from Slick Media Productions.

The iconic, world-famous honky tonk attracts locals and tourists from all over and you never know who you might run into. In fact, the business is known to have star-studded visitors from time to time including Dolly Parton, Luke Bryan, and Miley Cyrus.

Tootsie’s ‘Birthday Bash’ Sunday, Sept. 22 closed down lower Broadway from 4th to 6th Avenue until 5 a.m. Monday. Live performances featured several artists including Dean James, Hippies & Cowboys, John Stone, and the Mantz Brothers.
