Tennessee Governor Bill Lee has withdrew his support for Mark Robinson following comments that were reportedly made by the North Carolina gubernatorial candidate.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Tennessee Governor Bill Lee has withdrawn his support for Mark Robinson following comments that were reportedly made by the North Carolina gubernatorial candidate.

The Associated Press reported Republican Mark Robinson’s campaign for governor was recently rocked by a CNN report, which claimed that the 56-year-old had made explicit racial and sexual posts years ago on a pornography website.

Following the report, several of Robinson’s campaign staff reportedly quit their posts, including the campaign’s finance director and the deputy campaign manager, according to a release that was sent by campaign manager Conrad Conrad Pogorzelski III.

On Monday, Sept. 23, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee announced that he had pulled his endorsement for Robinson.

In March, Lee, who served as chairman for the Republican Governors Association, endorsed Robinson, saying in part: “From investing in safe neighborhood to driving economic prosperity, Mark Robinson will put the people of North Carolina first.”

According to The Hill, North Carolina Senator GOP Sen. Thom Tillis also signaled Monday that he would not vote for Robinson as governor.
