A mid-level low near of Kauai is causing isolated thunderstorms this evening, mostly staying away from coastal waters. These storms are expected to drift west as the low moves.

Light to moderate trade winds are blowing across the islands due to high-pressure systems to the northwest and northeast.

Low clouds moving toward the Big Island will bring showers to the windward and southern slopes tonight, with some improvement by early Tuesday.

As the mid-level low continues westward, a more stable air mass will move in. High clouds may drift over the islands, and the northern high-pressure systems will merge into one, slightly strengthening the trade winds in the next few days. Expect minimal showers, mainly affecting windward areas, into next weekend. Lighter winds could return next weekend as a new low passes north of the islands.
