A Troy man was arrested on Friday following an illegal weapon investigation, according to police.
TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A Troy man was arrested on Friday following an illegal weapon investigation, according to police. Terry Bennett, 43, is facing multiple charges.
On Wednesday around 5 a.m., Troy Police responded to an apartment building on Fifth Avenue near Hutton Street after receiving a call from a security officer at the building. Arriving officers spoke with the guard, who reported seeing someone on security video loading a firearm in the building’s laundry area.
After reviewing the footage and securing the area, officers stopped the suspect, identified as Bennett, as he was leaving the laundry area. Bennett, who police say wasn’t known to live at the building, was reportedly found to have a loaded illegal handgun with him, resulting in his arrest. He now faces the following charges:
Criminal possession of a weapon – loaded firearm, defaced weapon
Third-degree burglary
Bennett was arraigned at Troy City Court before being remanded to the Rensselaer County Jail.
