COLUMBIA, S.C. (WCBD) – South Carolina public safety officials confirmed Friday there were 19 storm-related deaths in the state.

The deaths are attributed to Helene and its impacts on South Carolina.

The South Carolina Department of Public Safety said the deaths were confirmed through the coroner offices in each county:

Newberry – 2 

Anderson – 2

Saluda – 2 

Aiken – 4

Spartanburg – 5 

Greenville – 4

Gov. Henry McMaster said earlier in the day that four people died in the storm, including two firefighters in Saluda County, but added that more deaths were likely once confirmed.
