A fire on Turner Avenue in Schenectady on Saturday injured four firefighters of the Schenectady Fire Department. Chief Dan Mareno told NEWS10 that the four firefighters sustained non-life-threatening injuries when putting out the flames.
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10)– A fire on Turner Avenue in Schenectady on Saturday injured four firefighters of the Schenectady Fire Department. Chief Dan Mareno told NEWS10 that the four firefighters sustained non-life-threatening injuries when putting out the flames.
Crews were called to 2230 Turner Ave. on Saturday evening and witnessed heavy smoke coming from the home when they arrived. Neighbors told fire officials they believed the homeowner wasn’t home at the time of the fire, which prompted a primary search.
During the search, firefighters confirmed the home was empty. After suffering from heavy smoke in the basement and attic, the house was slotted to be demolished on Sunday. The fire is under investigation.
