According to the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency, military sirens are to blame for the incident that woke up surrounding areas around 3:15 a.m. on Saturday.

According to the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency, military sirens are to blame for the incident that woke up surrounding areas around 3:15 a.m. on Saturday.


Aiea hit-and-run leaves man, 71, in critical condition

HI-EMA reported receiving multiple calls regarding the sirens and said that neither the City and County nor HI-EMA were responsible for the operation of military sirens.

Officials also confirmed there was no emergency at the time.

An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the runaway sirens.

HI-EMA said more information will be released as it becomes available.

Residents are advised to “remain calm and stay tuned for further official communication.” Any immediate concerns should be directed to the local authorities.
