CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Lowcountry Xfinity customers are experiencing an outage Tuesday evening.

Outages have been reported widespread in Awendaw, Mount Pleasant, downtown Charleston, North Charleston, Goose Creek, James Island, Walterboro, Ladson, West Ashley and Cainhoy.

Official numbers for the outage have not been released. The outage affects internet, television and cable.

News 2 spoke with an Xfinity engineer who said there is no estimate for when service will be restored; however, the outage map shows estimates of 11:25 p.m.

“Customers in Metro Charleston may be experiencing outages due to a fiber cut in the area. Comcast crews are working diligently to get customers back online ASAP and we thank the community for their patience,” an Xfinity representative said.

Outage tracking website Downdetector shows outage reports rose for Xfinity around 5:15 p.m.
