CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – October is National Popcorn Poppin’ Month and has been celebrated for over 30 years.

Big E recap and plans for next year

According to the National Day Calendar, whether you’re watching a movie, celebrating a birthday, or hanging out and watching a sports game, popcorn is always there. Popcorn is easy, inexpensive, and can be very addicting.

The oldest ears of popcorn ever found were discovered in the Bat Cave of west central New Mexico in 1948 and 1950, according to Popcorn.org. Popcorn was essential to early 16th-century Aztec Indian ceremonies and was an important food for the Aztec Indians. It was used as decoration for ceremonial headdresses, necklaces, and ornaments on statues of their gods, including Tlaloc, the god of rain and fertility.

One way to celebrate popcorn is by enjoying some of the most popular kind, movie theater popcorn. Cinemark offers classic movie snack delivery, so you can enjoy your favorite popcorn from the comfort of your own home. If you feel like going out to enjoy some, here are the current movies playing at Cinemark in West Springfield:
