CHEATHAM COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office said no injuries were reported after deputies fired shots toward an alleged stolen vehicle suspect Thursday morning.

According to officials, the incident unfolded after an individual called 911 to report a crash along Highway 12 and Ed Harris Road.

The citizen allegedly told deputies that when they went to check on the individual inside, the person threatened to “use a gun on them” and told them to get away.

Deputies said the suspect was already gone before they arrived, but neighbors told them to look into the woods. Approximately 40 minutes later, the suspect was located in a wood line, authorities reported.

As law enforcement gave commands, the suspect reportedly began moving toward them with his hand extended. According to the sheriff’s office, this led deputies to open fire.
