BOYLSTON, Mass. (WWLP) – A chef from Boylston is the winner of a $10 million scratch ticket.
According to the Massachusetts State Lottery, Michael Fitzgerald, a chef from Boylston, bought a $20 “$10,000,000 Cash Blast” instant ticket from Star Liquor in Shrewsbury. Michael told the lottery officials that he picked that ticket because he saw that there were a lot of big prizes remaining.
On Thursday, Michael chose the cash option and received a one-time payment of $6,500,000 (before taxes). Star Liquor will receive $50,000 for its sale of the ticket. The Cash Blast has two remaining $10,000,000 tickets and two $1 million tickets remaining.
Not only is Michael a 10-million-dollar winner, but another ticket worth that amount was sold at Jobi Liquors in Boston. This lucky lottery winner chose Moneybags Capital Trust of Quicy to claim their ticket on Thursday. This $20 ticket was called “$10,000,000 Cash King” and has no more chances to win $10 million however, there is one remaining $1 million prize.
The winner, whose identity will not be revealed, chose the cash option and received $6,500,000 (before taxes).
In addition to the multi-million dollar winners, another big ticket was claimed on Thursday. Jose Tejada Grullon of Worcester won a $1 million prize in the “Bonus 100X” instant ticket game. He also chose the cash option and received a one-time payment of $650,000 (before taxes).
Jose told lottery officials that he plans to invest some of his winnings. His ticket was bought at O’Hara’s Wine & Liquors in Worcester. The liquor store will receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the ticket.
