Jomtien Beach– On October 5th, 2024, a baby was found abandoned on Jomtien Beach, covered in sand. The discovery was made by a good Samaritan who immediately alerted local authorities.

At approximately 7:30 AM, Mr. Suchart Khunjeng, Pattaya City Councilman, and Petty Officer 1st Class Sawet Phueamphun, head of the Jomtien District Municipality, received the report and swiftly proceeded to the scene to provide assistance.

Upon arrival, they found Ms. Malinee Suwachat, a 37-year-old parasol and sunbed operator, holding the baby. The infant, a male estimated to be around 3-4 months old, had a distinctive colored mark on his forehead, suggesting he might not be of Thai origin.

Ms. Suwachat recounted that her older sister discovered the baby crying on the beach around 6:30 AM. The baby was covered in sand but was alive. Ms. Suwachat then took the baby to her parasol station and contacted the authorities.

Pol. Lt. Phuttarak Sonkhamhan, Deputy Chief of Investigation at Pattaya City Police Station, coordinated with rescue workers to transport the child to Banglamung Hospital. Dr. Wichai Thanasophon, the hospital’s director, is currently overseeing the baby’s medical examination.

In response to the incident, Mr. Poramese Ngampiches, Mayor of Pattaya City, has coordinated with the Chonburi Provincial Social Development and Human Security Office to ensure the child receives proper care. Meanwhile, an investigation is underway to locate the child’s parents and determine the circumstances leading to abandonment.
