A heart-wrenching tragedy unfolded near Pattaya yesterday when a six-year-old boy drowned in a water retention pond while playing with friends. At precisely 3.06pm, yesterday, October 6, Huay Yai police received a harrowing call about a child drowning at the large pond, sparking a swift response from local officials and a volunteer rescue team, who raced to the scene accompanied by reporters.
Upon arrival, they were met by the boy’s distraught parents, Cambodian nationals 36 year old Daow Chuan and 40 year old Miek Pok. The couple was overcome with grief, fervently praying for their son’s safety as rescue efforts began. The pond, ominously over 10 metres deep, posed a dire threat.
Rescue divers quickly entered the murky waters, launching an intense search. After more than half an hour of frantic searching, they sadly located the boy’s lifeless body submerged at the bottom….
