NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Along with the chill in the air, very clear skies and dry air remains with mostly light winds across the region as despite the pesky northerly winds to start in Albuquerque, green flags will mostly likely be predominantly up at Balloon Fiesta for not only today, but for at least the next few days. Temperatures are widely ranging from the 20s to the 60s across New Mexico, at-or-slightly below normal for some northern areas, while the remainder of the region is still experiencing above-normal temperatures. While stable air remains for much of the Land of Enchantment, the tropical moisture is well to the southeast with Hurricane Milton starting to threaten Florida as its set to make landfall as a major hurricane later this week.

The dominant high pressure remains to the west which is still allowing for mostly clear skies in the region, but some moisture is still being drawn up into the northern and western mountains, which will allow for a few isolated showers and rumbles of thunder ahead. Elsewhere, despite a slight uptick in clouds for today, mostly sunny skies will ensue and as temperatures will rise, although not as much as yesterday, southwesterly winds will pick up a little bit. From the morning school commute on into the afternoon, temperatures will eventually reach into the upper 60s, 70s, 80s, and near the low 90s with not as many records broken today.

Very clear skies with relatively chilly mornings and seasonably warm afternoons will continue this week as despite a storm system approaching later this week, most will still remain rain-free with mostly light winds.
