SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Jewish community gathered Monday evening to stand in solidarity with Israel, honoring the memory of those whose lives were lost in the tragic October 7th attack by Hamas.
Gatherings were held in both Northampton and Springfield with many praying for the safe return of the remaining 101 hostages still missing.
22News had a chance to hear from the Rabbi at Temple Beth El about Monday’s commemoration. “Gathering today allows us the opportunity to recognize the pain, the suffering, and the sacrifice,” says Rabbi Amy Wallk. “From my perspective double down and pray that Israel is able to withstand this and be strong.”
The war between Israel and Hamas continues on and efforts towards a potential cease-fire deal to recover the remaining hostages have yet to be achieved, despite ongoing efforts in negotiations.
