SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – Santa Fe police are investigating a possible hazing incident involving the student-athletes on the Santa Fe High School football team. Santa Fe Public Schools posted this statement to social media:

Santa Fe Public Schools (SFPS) received a report on October 8, 2024, and worked collaboratively with the Santa Fe Police Department (SFPD) to investigate an alleged hazing incident involving student-athletes on the Santa Fe High School football team.

We take this situation with the utmost seriousness, as the safety, well-being, and dignity of all students are our top priorities. Every student has the right to be treated with respect and is expected to demonstrate the same respect toward others.

SFPS maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy regarding hazing. Any act of hazing, in any form, is not tolerated and violates district policy, New Mexico law, and federal law. Students involved in hazing—whether as participants, organizers, or bystanders—may face serious disciplinary actions, including suspension or expulsion.

Hazing is not only illegal but also runs counter to the values of respect and inclusion that SFPS upholds. It is a violation of our Student Code of Conduct and goes against our mission to foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where all students can learn and thrive without fear of harassment or intimidation.

The district is fully committed to addressing this issue promptly and ensuring the safety of all our students.
