ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An Old Town business is fully open again months after a fire sparked and caused costly electrical problems.

The High Noon Restaurant was forced to close its doors in May because of the fire that was reportedly started by 66-year-old Stevie Maestas. Restaurant owner Carla Villa said the fire caused $20,000 in damage.

While the restaurant has offered limited service since August, Villa and another business owner said they are happy to see service back to normal. “Having that major restaurant missing for such a long time was really kind of devastating. So we are really happy they are back open again,” said Kathy Hiatt, co-owner of Bottger Mansion Bed and Breakfast in Old Town.

Villa said it has been a long process to reopen fully and hopes this is the last time she will have to deal with a fire like this. “I just don’t think I can withstand another act of weirdness, so yeah, I’m hoping for safety for all of us,” she said.

As for Maestas who is accused of setting the fire, he is facing an arson charge and is still in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center.
