Police say a former Walgreens employee is behind bars after she allegedly stole thousands of dollars worth of prescriptions drugs from the pharmacy.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Police say a former Walgreens employee is behind bars after she allegedly stole thousands of dollars worth of prescriptions drugs from the pharmacy.

According to an arrest report, 21-year-old Tayiona Wilson worked at the Walgreens Pharmacy located in the 500 block of Donelson Pike.

Authorities reported the business received a tip that Wilson had been taking medication from the pharmacy.

Amid the investigation, surveillance video allegedly captured Wilson put a pill in her pocket and not place it in the safe where it belonged.

Police said Wilson admitted in an interview back in the June that she took pills and sold them “to get her car fixed.”

According to her written statement, the following pills were stolen from the pharmacy:

1,000 Hydrocodone (10 MG)

500 Hydrocodone (7.5 MG)

500 Oxycodone (10 MG)

100 Adderall

Investigators said $3,106 worth of narcotics were taken by Wilson, adding that “based on the amount and various types of narcotics taken along with her admission to Walgreens personnel, it is believed the pills were stolen for resale purposes.”

Wilson was charged with three counts of possession of a Schedule 2 substance and theft of property. She is being held in Metro Jail on a $85,000 bond.
