CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) — A Johns Island man was arrested Friday after deputies found him to be in possession of child sexual abuse materials.
77-year-old James Francis Halpin was charged with six counts of sexual exploitation of a minor in the third degree after Charleston County deputies conducted a search warrant at his residence on Thin Pine Drive.
The search came after the South Carolina Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received a cyber tip regarding Halpin.
Halpin was taken to the Al Cannon Detention Center. The Mount Pleasant Police Department, Charleston Police Department, and Homeland Security Investigations assisted.
