HANAHAN, S.C. (WCBD) – The City of Hanahan honored one of its citizens who saved a person seconds before their wrecked vehicle burst into flames.

Brian Morros was named Hanahan’s citizen of the month at Tuesday’s city council meeting.

Morris was driving on Foster Creek Road the night of Aug. 12 when he was in a vehicle that ran off the road and struck a tree.

Immediately, Morros went to the vehicle and found the driver unconscious and “in dire need of immediate medical attention,” according to the city.

As smoke came from the vehicle, Morros pulled the unconscious drives from the front seat right before it went up in flames.

“The resulting fire was so extensive that the vehicle was nearly unidentifiable after the fire was extinguished,” Hanahan wrote in a statement on social media.

City officials say without Morros’ intervention the driver would have died.
