WYNANTSKILL, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Halloween is right around the corner and one woman’s Wynantskill house is getting into the spooky spirit for a good cause. Patricia Voellm-Pasinello set up elaborate Halloween decorations again this year with hopes of raising money to support St. Jude’s.

“I just love Halloween and I think in the pandemic when things were really sad is really when I started to build everything up,” said Patricia Voellm-Pasinello, the owner of the house. “The more people that come by and are happy it makes me happy so I just keep doing it.”

Patricia has set up bone-tiful decorations on her lawn for the last seven years. She said this project starts the latest on Labor Day and takes weeks to complete.

“It took about three weeks, working on the weekends, and in between during the week as much as we could,” said Patricia.

Some of the characters that Patricia makes will blow your mind — literally for the skeletons. Patricia said she enjoyed incorporating various themes throughout her yard and her neighbors’ yard. With the two yards combined, there are over 100 decorated skeletons.

“I buy the skeleton, I research what the characters look like, buy the costumes, put them all together, the wigs, the costume, any makeup that is needed,” said Patricia.

Some of the costumes included princesses like Snow White, Else, Ariel, and movie characters like Shrek and Fiona, Jack and Rose from “The Titanic” and the Sanderson sisters from “Hocus Pocus.” Patricia said this year she’s most proud of Belle as well as the St. Jude’s section.

Patricia chose to raise money for a St. Jude’s charity called Skeletons for Hope this year. This nationwide fundraiser has a goal of reaching over $100,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital during the 2024 Halloween and holiday seasons.

“Imagine being a parent that hears your child has cancer. St .Jude’s is behind you and they will support you and help you in anyway,” said Patricia. “So I’m 100% on board with supporting them.”

So far, Patricia has raised $600 of her over $1,000 goal. Anyone interested in donating can scan the QR code featured in our video or at her house, or visit her Facebook page that encourages more Halloween decorations in the Capital Region.
