MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) – Two individuals accused of shoplifting led law enforcement on a chase Sunday evening, according to the Mount Pleasant Police Department.

The department was notified of shoplifting happening at the Oakland Market Walmart at 4:20  p.m. Sgt. Ashley Croy said. The suspects left the Walmart in a U-Haul, and officers attempted to stop the vehicle.

The vehicle did not stop, and officers did not pursue it. However, a “be on the lookout” was issued for the incident. Later, Charleston County deputies found U-Haul and attempted a traffic stop, Sgt. Croy explained.

Once again, the drivers refused to stop, and a pursuit ensued with assistance from Mount Pleasant PD. Stop sticks were deployed and successful.

Police arrested two suspects, but Sgt. Croy said their identities are not ready for release yet.
