COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A woods fire near the Cayce Road and Mt. Nebo Road intersection burned several acres and spread to several outdoor sheds and an SUV around 3:36 p.m. on Monday.

Engine 23 of the Colleton County Fire-Rescue was originally dispatched to the incident as a woods fire, but arrived to find a vehicle and sheds on fire. 

The incident was then upgraded to a structural response bringing three additional stations to the scene. The Forestry Commission was also requested and supplied a tractor to work the fire. 

Firefighters deployed multiple hand lines to extinguish the fire and protect a residence on the property. The home was not damaged, however the vehicle and a shed were destroyed. 

Colleton County Fire units were on the scene for two hours. The Forestry Commission is investigating the origin of the fire.
