WARWICK, Mass. (WWLP) – A portion of Athol Road in Warwick is closed due to a failed culvert.

According to the Warwick Fire Department, the road is closed in the area of 293 Athol Road. Residents east of town are impacted on roads including Hastings Heights, Richmond, Royalston, and Chase Hill.

Fire Chief Joseph Larson said mutual aid will be provided by the Orange Fire Department to assist with fire and EMS calls. Firefighters from Warwick may be delayed due to the detour.

The repairs to the culvert are ongoing and an estimate for reopening the road is unknown at this time.
