SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Some STCC students got a lesson in empowerment on Wednesday.

22News Anchor Ciara Speller had the chance to speak to the school’s Female Leadership & Mentoring Program as part of their “Empower-Her” series.

It’s a chance for female-identifying students to come together to talk about personal development and growth. A counselor from the group told 22News that this was an important opportunity for the student to learn how to become a leader in any role.

“They need to see powerful women out in our community who are in leadership positions, whether that’s their role in their families or out in the community because we all are leaders in our own ways in different aspects of our lives.”

Karolyn Burgos, Community Outreach Counselor, LEAD Program, STCC

The LEAD program at STCC also gives students access to peer and professional mentors. Students also meet every two weeks to stay up to date on upcoming opportunities and events.
