22News Storm Team Meteorologist Chris Bouzakis has a look at what will be causing these warm and dry days ahead.

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Most of western Massachusetts saw its first hard freeze of the season Wednesday night but temperatures will be climbing over the coming days.

Temperatures have been below average in the 40s and 50s the past few days with morning low temperatures on Thursday getting down into the 20s. The low temperature in Chicopee on Thursday morning was 26 degrees.

Warmer fall weather leading to delayed first freeze

Starting Friday, temperatures will climb back to around or above average heading into the weekend and into next week with lots of sun. High temperatures are expected to get into the low to mid-70s over the next few days which is 10-15 degrees above average.

This is all because of a ridge in the jet stream and high pressure out west that will be moving east towards the weekend. There is no precipitation in the forecast over the next 7-10 days. The average high temperature for October is 63 degrees.
