FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — Secretary of State Michael Adams announced an addition to their Kentucky Safe at Home program.

“Now we are working with DeleteMe to provide a free service to those in our program to scrub public-facing information off of websites,” Adams said.

He says there are hundreds of websites that can provide your personal information to whoever pays.

“Your name, your address is out there everywhere because there are data broker companies that traffic in your information that’s how they make money,” he said.

For those convicted of domestic violence, the fines they have to pay end up going toward this program.

“All the services we are providing are free of charge to all participants in our program including this. It costs about ten thousand dollars for us to provide this program. The taxpayers aren’t paying for this, the bad guys are paying for this, that’s the best part,” Adams said.

For those going through domestic violence or abuse, Adams wants them to know there are resources, and they’re working every day to find ways to help.

If you are looking to join the program, you can visit this website for more information.
