CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – The Chicopee community came together Thursday to recognize Polish Heritage Month by raising a flag.

Polish Heritage Month celebrated in Northampton

This annual event served as a reminder of the contributions and influence of Polish culture in the area. Mayor John Vieau joined members of the local Polish American community for a flag-raising ceremony outside City Hall.

It was a symbol of pride and unity bringing together people of Polish descent and those who appreciate and admire their culture. The observance also commemorated the many Polish migrants who had settled in the city.

Father Brad Milunski told 22News, “They built St the Basilica of St Stanislaus with really nickels and dimes and their sacrifices. And so we still are reaping the benefits of that today. And the Basilica, and with maintaining Polish heritage and continuing to do things in the Polish language and as well.”

The Polish traditions continue on Saturday at the St. Stanislaus Parish annual Bazaar which will feature Polish food and music.
