SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Greater Springfield NAACP held its annual freedom fund dinner Thursday evening to help raise money for the organization.

Holyoke Medical Center earns national recognition for excellence in stroke care

Dozens of people gathered at the Sheraton in Springfield to recognize how the organization is impacting the region.

It’s an annual fundraising event that features speeches, awards, and community recognition to support their ongoing efforts for civil rights and social justice. Those with the NAACP say the event is also a call to action.

“We’ve been working tirelessly registering voters sounding the alarm about the importance of this election, what’s at stake this election, and trying to mobilize our people to get out and vote,” says Talbert Swan, president of the Greater Springfield NAACP.

The Freedom Fund dinner was also an opportunity for donors to network and show their support for the work this organization is doing in the greater Springfield area.
