WOLFE COUNTY, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — Drivers across the state can now display a new sight on the road: Red River Gorge license plates. These plates not only showcase the stunning landscape of Kentucky but also contribute to an important cause—the Wolfe County Search and Rescue.

“This gives us a way to fund the equipment, the ropes, the gear, the helmets, the jackets, the medical supplies, all the things we need for our mission to save and rescue people in the Red River Gorge,” said Kevin Osbourn with Wolfe County Search and Rescue.

The new license plates, featuring a classic Kentucky view, and the design itself also comes from Kentucky.

“It’s based on a piece of art that appeared in the Kentucky Derby festival, and people,” said Osbourn.

Priced at $44, approximately a quarter of each plate’s cost will benefit the Wolfe County Search and Rescue organization.
