ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – An Albuquerque woman was arrested for stealing an ambulance from Presbyterian Hospital downtown on Tuesday and crashing it at a construction site, according to police.

Trixie Largo, 29, was caught on hospital surveillance video leaving the emergency room, getting into an American Medical Response ambulance, and leaving, court documents state.

Albuquerque Police later responded to a construction site at Comanche and Pan American Freeway NE for reports of an ambulance that crashed into a vehicle. The vehicle’s owner said the ambulance allegedly came from Interstate 25, drove down a hill, ended up in the dirt construction lot, and hit his truck, per court documents.

Police said bystanders stepped in to prevent Largo from leaving before officers arrived. She is charged with unlawful taking of a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident.

No one was injured in the incident.
