This year’s theme was pink!

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Bats, balls, and softball mitts helped the city “strike out” breast cancer on Sunday.

The Parks and Recreation Department hosted the 5th annual “Strike Out Cancer” softball tournament at both Los Altos Park and USS Bullhead Park.

Organizers said this year’s event is the largest tournament they’ve had with 71 teams in four divisions including men, women, senior women, and co-ed leagues.

The funds raised from the event will benefit the American Cancer Society, the New Mexico Cancer Center, and the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center.

This year’s theme was pink, complete with pink balls, uniforms, and bases in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
