Just like in years past, Albany International Airport is preparing for a surge of travelers during the holiday season.
COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Just like in years past, Albany International Airport is preparing for a surge of travelers during the holiday season. Airport officials unveiled new upgrades on Monday that are aimed at making it easier for travelers to navigate the airport during the ongoing terminal expansion construction.
The improvements include enhanced signage, improved pathways, and expanded traffic lanes.
“Over the last month, we’ve taken a hard look at the construction site and have successfully found ways to improve overall efficiency for passengers,” airport COO John O’Donnell said.
Construction is being divided into five phases.
First is a sensory room, a children’s play area, and a business center that is expected to be finished by the spring. Ticket counter upgrades will be ready by Summer 2025 while the new security checkpoints will be ready in Fall 2025. The last phase, which includes two news gates in Terminal A, is scheduled to be finished by August 2026.
