CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Temperatures are climbing into the 80s for some towns once again Tuesday but there is a cooldown on the way for the end of the week.

Temperatures have been well above average the past few days with Westover in Chicopee touching 85 degrees on Monday. This warm weather is because of a large area of high pressure over the eastern half of the country which is allowing the jet stream to lift to the north.

Hot weather makes it feel like return of summer for the next few days

For the rest of the week, temperatures will cool down back into the 50s and 60s by the weekend. This cooldown will be due to a trough which is a dip in the jet stream that will develop over the Northeast.

7 Day Forecast

The average high temperature is 61 degrees for this time of year. In terms of rainfall, there could be a passing shower early Thursday morning, besides that it looks dry for the next 7-10 days.
