NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – The state’s unemployment numbers continue to go up. The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions says it was at 4.2% in September, a tenth of a percentage higher than in August.
This is slightly higher than it was this time last year. It’s also slightly higher than the national average of 4.1%. The department says total nonagricultural payroll employment grew by 13,700 jobs, or 1.6%, between September 2023 and September 2024.
