Temperatures continue to warm across New Mexico. The state will remain dry for the near future.

Temperatures are still climbing across New Mexico today. Especially for the central and southern regions. Temperatures will continue to rise through tomorrow where they have the potential to be record breaking. The best chances for record breaking heat will be in southern New Mexico.

A weak backdoor cold front will be moving through New Mexico Thursday night and Saturday. This front will not be bringing any rain to the state. Though it will be cooling temperatures in eastern and central New Mexico off by a few degrees. It will also be bringing some breezy conditions to northeast. Temperatures are expected to warm back up on Saturday.

The high pressure over the Baja Peninsula will continue to strengthen through the end of the week. Over the weekend the high will move towards the southwest. This high pressure will be incredibly strong by Sunday. It will lead to more record breaking heat Sunday afternoon.

Our next potential fall storms will begin to form over the weekend. A low pressure system in the Pacific Northwest will begin to move eastward. Early next week this low will be over the northern US. New Mexico will be under its associated trough. As the storm is still a week out, there is model disagreement on its exact strength and timing. It is expected to bring mountain showers and snow early next week with a potential for more widespread storms.
