Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni kicked off his annual “Adopt-A-Classroom” program in Springfield on Wednesday.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni kicked off his annual “Adopt-A-Classroom” program in Springfield on Wednesday.

The District Attorney addressed the 8th grade class at South End Middle School Wednesday morning. The program is designed to complement the students’ social studies curriculum.

Students will take part in sessions that focus on a number of topics including civics and understanding the Bill of Rights. They’ll also be able to take part in a mock trial re-enactment.

D.A. Gulluni told 22News that the program could inspire students to pursue a career in criminal justice. “We hope that even at this young age here at the middle school at the south end in Springfield maybe it sparks some interest in being a lawyer or a judge someday or maybe something about what they learn in forensic sciences, will be something that inspires them to continue and work hard at school.”
