CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – One lucky Chicopee resident struck it big with a $1 million prize in the Massachusetts State Lottery’s new “$2,500,000 Merry & Bright” holiday-themed instant ticket game, marking an early holiday windfall for the lucky winner.
The winner chose the cash option for his prize, receiving a one-time payment of $650,000 before taxes.
He shared that he plans to share a portion of his winnings with his mother and invest the rest. The winning ticket was purchased at Yazzy’s Market, located at 810 Meadow Street in Chicopee. For selling the winning ticket, Yazzy’s Market will receive a $10,000 bonus, adding an extra bit of holiday cheer for the local business.
