Longtime sportswriter for the Springfield newspaper, Carlo Imelio has passed away at age 88.

AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) – Longtime sportswriter for the Springfield newspaper, Carlo Imelio has passed away at age 88.

Carlo was born in 1936 in Agawam and served in the U.S. Navy and worked as a sportswriter for the Springfield newspaper for 35 years. He is known for covering the New England Patriots and the contest called “I BEAT CARLO” where people try to beat his football predictions for the week.

The Agawam Funeral Home announced that Imelio passed away on Monday. His full obituary is scheduled to be published on Wednesday.

On Thursday, calling hours will be held at the Agawam Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, at 11:30 a.m.
